Ankle Boots: A Noble Past and Promising Future

For centuries both women and men have worn ankle boots as a part of their ensemble. Unlike many fashions that have stretched across centuries, ankle boots are seen worn by every class--rich or poor, and during any occasion--outdoors or at a ball. ankle boots go best with long dresses that hit below the knee. The idea is to show no leg; therefore, if the skirt you have chosen to wear isn’t long enough to cover the top of the boot, wear a pair of tights.

Clothes to avoid when wearing these types of boots include
• Cropped pants
• Cropped tights
• Mid-Length skirts with bare legs
• Any Style of Jeans
• Mini Dresses

There have been many great fashions over the years that are paired with ankle boots--How could we forget Madonna's 'Like a Virgin' period? Some of the earlier boot styles are still around today and haven’t changed all that much (except for the fact that the heels are often longer and sexier than the standard lace up model with flat heel of decades past).

Choose from ankle boots with an array of different heel types ranging from chrome to stiletto. You can select a typical lace-up pair of ankle boots or go for clunkier, more contemporary styles with buckles and/or chains galore. The plain Victorian styles are also available offering an ageless and very classic appeal. If you are more into novelty footwear, you won’t be disappointed, as you can choose from a number of really far out boot styles; including camouflage and sneaker types.

Footwear has adapted throughout many centuries and has gone through many changes down through history as scientific and technological advances have developed new materials and techniques. Some things, however, never go out of style and one of them is the classic and enduring ankle boot. The author commonly writes about fashion trends and fashion tips for SummitFashions.
