Like any outfit, accessories take your look from average to fabulous and the same goes with costumes. What would a doctor costume be without a lab coat and stethoscope? Would it be a fairy costume if you did not have fairy wings? Costume accessories not only take your look to the next level, but actually make your look! Get creative and make your accessories pop on your Halloween costume.
Costume accessories are and always made the costume what it is supposed to be. You can’t be a pirate king without the eye-patch and the cutlass (a ship with a skull on its flag helps too) or even attempt to be Harry Potter without those trademark coke bottle-sized glasses and magic wand. Even generic characters like witches or vampires need accessories for their dark and mysterious nights out on the town.
You must have creativity when you select your costume accessories. Thinking outside that proverbial box can transform any old white shirt belt and sash into pirate or old-fashioned cowgirl gear. You may not even have to shop for anything new, look around your house to find the perfect accessory. It will come to you how you can get them there with just a little creative thinking.
When you're at a costume party, most of the night people will be looking at your face. Don't go stingy on Halloween make up!. While a mask might cover your face and make you look like a monster, it is the small details of effective makeup will seal the illusion and hopefully, have people running away from all your hard work. While make up is extremely important, remember that your hair is as well. Crack out your old hair crimper, curlers and LOTS of hair spray. If you don't have the hair you need for your costume, a costume wig will perfect your look.
There are so many accessories to choose from this Halloween season. You can sport an Afro, batwings or black and red devil horns (Not all together. Make up your mind.) If vampires are your bag, you can’t go to a party or any bloodletting worth its salt without a long black cape to complete the illusion. Jack Sparrow boots complete any outfit destined for a bloodthirsty pirate from the Caribbean. Faerie wings abound and each type renders a different look to that otherwise lifeless wood nymph and nymphette.
This coming Halloween try to concentrate on the accessories that will make your costume come alive.
